Become a Bilby Buddy for MACCA BILBY
Macca was named after radio personality and inspirational conservationist Ian McNamara (Macca), of ABC’s “Australia All Over”.
His broadcasts regularly highlight the plight of Australia’s unique native species and the struggle Australians face in saving them from feral animals. Save the Bilby Fund was launched on Macca’s program in 1999 and his continued support for education and conservation work is greatly appreciated.
Macca Bilby lives in Charleville. He and his bilby ambassador friends will soon be moved to a new bilby centre housed in the historical railway building where Macca will feature in the bilby shows. During the show you will meet dedicated volunteers, who will share their knowledge and passion for the preservation of this delightful marsupial. Vital research work is carried out in Charleville including an important captive breeding program.
